Alice in Chains é uma banda americana de rock formada por Layne Staley e Jerry Cantrell em Seattle, Washington, no ano de 1987. A banda alcançou fama internacional como parte do movimento grunge do início dos anos 90, ao lado de Pearl Jam, Soundgarden e Nirvana, sendo uma das mais bem sucedidas comercialmente desta época, com mais de 15 milhões de álbuns vendidos nos Estados Unidos e cerca de 35 milhões vendidos em todo o mundo. 

O conjunto nunca se separou oficialmente, mas ficou por muitos anos inativo devido aos problemas de Layne Staley com drogas, os quais culminaram na sua morte, em 2002. Os integrantes remanescentes reuniram-se em 2005, e em 2009 terminaram a gravação de seu primeiro álbum de estúdio em quatorze anos, com William DuVall como o novo 

vocalista e também guitarrista.
